The Board of Education is prepared to offer a contract with a competitive salary based on professional background and educational experience with a minimum of $140,000. Residency is not required, but regular attendance at school events is expected.

Be a visionary with clear direction for the district to foster a positive school culture for all stakeholders (students, parents/guardians, staff, community members, etc.)
Show genuine concern for children through listening, being visible, and getting involved in the education and activities of all students
Demonstrate strong leadership skills with the ability to solve problems efficiently and in the best interest of students
Make informed instructional and financial recommendations/decisions
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders in an organized manner
Build working relationships with the entire school community
Lead long-range strategic planning efforts and make executive level decisions

A picturesque, rural school district in central New York, GMU is nestled in the heart of the Butternut Valley, surrounded by rolling hills and beautiful nature. We are a true community school, located between the towns of Mount Upton and Gilbertsville on State Highway 51. Driving 25 minutes will take you from campus to the biggest cities in Otsego County (Oneonta) and Chenango County (Norwich). Another 20 minutes
will get you to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, and trips to both Albany and Syracuse are well under two hours one way.
GMUCSD serves approximately 320 students and is organized by grades PK-12. GMU’s graduation rate is typically greater than 90 percent
in any given year. An average of 25 seniors graduate from GMU each school year, with approximately 56% continuing on to college.
