The CARLE PLACE PUBLIC SCHOOLS, centrally located on Long Island in Nassau County, New York, is seeking a Superintendent of Schools to begin on July 1, 2023.
The 1,300 students in the Carle Place school district are enrolled in three schools, located on a single campus, (a K-2 elementary school, a 3-6 elementary school, and a middle/high school). The district has a long tradition of high-achieving students and the community is very supportive of the school district and its students. Stakeholders are committed to excellence, to a student-centered philosophy, and to enhancing an already successful school district and community.
The Board of Education is seeking a leader who can build upon the district’s many accomplishments while respecting the school and community cultures and its student-centered vision. The successful candidate will be:
an experienced teacher, central office and/or building administrator who can provide effective leadership in a district where the schools are the center of community life;
an accessible, collaborative, visible, apolitical administrator who is open to the ideas of others, and maintains an open-door approach to community, student, and staff engagement;
a leader who encourages thinking outside the box and risk taking, while also requiring appropriate accountability for high-level instructional outcomes;
an educator with leadership skills appropriate to meet today's challenges in a small, tight-knit community; and
effective in communicating through multiple media with all stakeholder groups.
The Board of Education is offering a regionally-competitive compensation package. New York State certification as a School District Administrator or School District Leader is required for appointment.
