The Board of Education of the Clinton Central School District invites interested, highly-qualified educators to submit applications for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The search process will be conducted over the next several months. The successful candidate should be available to assume the position on or about January 2023.

The Board is being assisted in the selection by Patricia N. Kilburn, Ed.D., District Superintendent of the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES, who will work with the Board to screen applicants and make recommendations regarding candidates. The Board will make all decisions concerning the selection process, the evaluation of candidates and the final appointment.  Salary will be commensurate with experience, qualifications and educational background of the successful candidate.

Clinton Central School District is comprised of three schools -- an elementary, middle and high school -- all located on one campus in the center of town and enrolls approximately 1,258 students.  

The district has approximately 210 faculty, staff and support personnel. The teaching staff is experienced and highly qualified at all levels. Instructional leadership is provided by the principals along with curriculum councils in each building.  The Clinton CSD has a reputation for achievement and excellence, and a commitment to encouraging the development and integration of critical thinking and analytical skills at all levels.  Clinton High School was named as a School of Excellence by the US Department of Education’s School Recognition Program.

Full programs in athletics, music and other co-curricular areas add breadth to the strong academic program for Clinton students.  The community strongly supports the school and its activities. As the center of the community, the district enjoys substantial community attendance at all of its events including musicals, interscholastic sports competitions, science fairs, graduation as well as other events. 

Spanning an area of 45 square miles, the suburban community encompassing the Clinton Central School District is located in Central New York, 12 miles southwest of the city of Utica and within the village of Kirkland. The district’s current population is approximately 10,315 and its residents represent a wide range of educational and socioeconomic levels. The Mohawk Valley is rich in history, dating back to pre-colonial times. It is an excellent location for professional and personal growth.  There is virtually no limit to the recreational opportunities available.  Shopping facilities are plentiful, offering a large variety of choices. The community is proud of its fine restaurants, specialty shops, theater groups and community organizations. All major faiths are represented in the greater community.

The successful candidate will have a broad range of experience that encompasses grades K-12 with proven leadership in educational administration. The candidate should be a dynamic, visionary leader with outstanding communication, problem solving and planning skills.  The candidate should be experienced in community relations, have a strong background in curriculum, instruction, school finance and budgeting. The candidate must possess or be eligible to obtain New York State certification as a School District Leader (SDA/SDL).  Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest, current résumé, copy of administrative certification (SDA/SDL), completed application form, college transcripts and four confidential references or four confidential letters of reference by July 8, 2022 to:
