The Board of Education of the Norwich City School District announces a vacancy in the position of Superintendent of Schools, effective January 1, 2021.
The Norwich CSD is looking for a Superintendent who possesses the following characteristics:
1. Is approachable and able to communicate with people from all walks of life with honesty, integrity and sincerity.
Exhibits good judgment, is patient in dealing with others, and has shown evidence of stability and integrity under pressure.
Has a genuine concern for children as demonstrated by listening, being visible and known to them, and involved in their education and activities.
A leadership style that is built upon trust, integrity, enthusiasm, compassion.
The ability to assess and evaluate all levels of the organization and make appropriate instructional and fiscal recommendations and decisions.
An ability to engage and involve parents, community, staff and students in the educational improvement process.
The Board is seeking an educational leader of the highest professional and personal integrity with the following qualifications and profile.
New York State Certification as a School District Administrator
An Instructional Leader who supports staff development and research based practices and is capable of motivating the school community to implement and support the learning standards for all students
A well versed and flexible leader with a working knowledge of school budget construction, fiscal management, capital improvements and a demonstrated ability to balance a sound philosophy of education with the community’s ability to provide economic support
A Long Range Planner who seeks input from the school community stakeholders and supports the shared decision-making process
A Communicator who is capable of developing, articulating, and implementing the District’s goals and plans through written and oral presentations
A willingness to be Visible, Interactive, and Involved with staff, students, parents, and to collaborate bringing the community together for the betterment of the district.
Child-centered and an Advocate for learners and their needs
A Problem Solver who is skilled in identifying and analyzing problems, developing priorities, and implementing practical solutions

Additional Salary Information: The Board plans to offer an initial three-year contract with a salary range starting at $140,000 and up depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
