The Director of Special Education oversees designated special education programs and personnel within the full continuum of special education services offered by New Trier. The Director works collaboratively with the Assistant Superintendent for Special Education to ensure all students have comprehensive curricular, extracurricular, and support programs to meet their needs and ensures the implementation of special education services and practices per IDEA, and Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act are compliant with ISBE regulations.

Master's degree in Special Education or Educational Leadership
Three years’ experience in Special Education leadership and/or general administration
Illinois Professional Educator License with General Administrative or Principal endorsement. Director of Special Education endorsement preferred
Illinois Qualified Evaluator certification
Extensive knowledge of special education programs, best practices in the field, and federal and state laws related to special education
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Evidence of collaborative leadership
