NCSD is actively recruiting for a Secondary Principal for the Norwich High School (Grades 9-12).
Applicants should have a (1) A child-centered philosophy, with a proven ability as a rigorous academic leader, innovative planner and effective communicator. (2) Comprehensive knowledge of NYS learning standards and assessments with ability to use data to inform decision making and target instruction in order to strengthen student achievement. (3) Commitment to success of students with diverse needs and backgrounds. (4) Commitment to active parent involvement and promoting respect for all members of the school community. (5) Demonstrated leadership and expertise in staff supervision. (6) Willingness to work collaboratively as a member of a professional learning community. (7) Competency in the evaluation of teachers, preferably using the NYSUT APPR model, and (8) Supervisory and secondary school level experience.
All applicants must be NYS certified School Building Leader or equivalent.

Norwich City School District is organized on a PreK-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12 plan with students attending a full-day kindergarten and six years of elementary school, followed by three years of middle school and a four-year high school program.
Stanford J. Gibson Primary School serves students in PreK-2 with an approximate enrollment of 540, while Perry Browne Intermediate School serves students in gra...des 3-5 with an enrollment of approximately 460 students. These facilities provide a modern elementary school program including library media and computer services, instruction in the special areas of art, music, physical education, remedial reading, writing and mathematics, and instruction for students with special learning needs.
Norwich Middle School houses approximately 470 6th through 8th grade students. A modern educational program is offered with an individualized approach to instruction for continuous student progress in the academic subjects. The program includes exploratory classes in art, music, home and career skills, technology and second languages. A library media center is available and opportunities are provided for students to participate in such extra-curricular activities as interscholastic and intramural sports, vocal and instrumental music groups, and a variety of club activities.
Norwich High School offers a comprehensive program of academic courses and activities to approximately 610 students in grades 9-12. Norwich High School runs on a rotating two day schedule with four quarters. Classes are 74 minutes in length. In addition to college preparatory courses, extensive course selections are available in business, technology education, home & career skills, art and music. An extensive extracurricular program in athletics, music and a variety of other activities is available for high school students. Norwich High School is accredited by the New York State Board of Regents and Middle Atlantic Association of Schools and Colleges. Norwich High School uses a numerical marking system. Class Rank is computed for all seniors at the end of the junior year and again at the end of the first semester of the senior year.
