Middle School Principal responsible for supervising all staff for a building with a student population ofapproximately 700, grades 5–8 and a faculty of 68 teachers and Pupil Personnel staff.
Provide leadership promoting sound educational practices supported by research; exhibit openness to new ideas, take informed risks.
Supervise, evaluate and develop building staff in the context of continuous improvement according to the criteria for effective teaching established in the teacher appraisal system.
Demonstrate leadership in providing a positive and productive environment for students and staff; place high priority on needs and welfare of students.
Collect, analyze and use performance and other data to improve student achievement and behavior.
Facilitate selection of the best-qualified candidates for positions on the school’s staff.
Exhibit skills in the effective involvement of staff, parents, students and community members in the decision-making process.
Prepare and submit the school’s budgetary requests and monitor expenditure of funds.
Develop and implement an efficient and effective staffing plan within the school’s resource allocation.
Actively participate in District-wide activities pertaining to a variety of issues including instructional and organizational development.
Work collegian and collaboratively with the District leadership team and with leadership peers.
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction.
Anticipated start date: July 17, 2017
Minimum of five years of experience in education, including teaching and building level leadership.
Graduate study beyond the Masters degree with emphasis on leadership and instruction.
A valid New York State certificate as a School Administrator and Supervisor or School Building Leader.
