Rockland BOCES is seeking a Supervisor of Science & Instructional Technology to join the Professional Development Team. The chosen candidate will support all component Districts in the understanding, planning, and implementation of K-12 science and the use of effective instructional technology to support teaching and learning. S/he will support and develop the understanding of the relationship between science and technology pedagogy. The individual will work with Rockland BOCES Component Districts to provide professional development, support, resources, and guidance while also facilitating Curriculum Councils around the District’s initiatives and needs. The Supervisor will provide a range of professional development opportunities through workshops as well as on-site in districts. The Supervisor may be asked to model and demonstrate best practice and developmentally appropriate science instruction in the field and/or provide in-house coaching in effective instructional strategies.
Must have a thorough knowledge of the Common Core State Standards in science
Experience in overseeing the integration of instructional technology
Must possess a standards’ based, student-center learning, and higher-order thinking approach to teaching & learning
Experience in providing staff development to teachers and administrators
Ability to plan, organize, facilitate, and manage 21st century information resources and learning technologies
Communicates effectively in oral and written forms
Able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with district and BOCES staff to support teaching and learning
Certification: NYS SDL, SBL or SDA and Science certification required
