Responsible for compliance with Part 200 and 201 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education and Board of Education policies as they relate to children with disabilities. Chair the Committee on Special Education/Committee on Preschool Special Education meetings and respond to CSE/CPSE recommendations. Administer the programs to evaluate, place and monitor special education students. Provide coordination for students needing support through ELL or Section 504 services.
Chair the CSE at the appropriate level; coordinate and disseminate information to families of children with disabilities.
Complete performance evaluations of instructional staff as assigned.
Coordinate BOCES services for in-district students.
Consult with school staff around issues of special education on a regular basis.
Coordinate instructional program for students with an IEP at appropriate level.
Coordinate services for students who qualify for ELL support.
Coordinate services for children who qualify under Section 504.
Coordinate placement of paraprofessionals.
Establish and maintain criteria for the identification, placement, classification and evaluation of students with disabilities necessary to the CSE function.
Monitor and report Medicaid, STAC, PD Reports, as well as internal accountability measures.
Ensure due process procedures in connection with CSE and Section 504 activities.
Supervise and coordinate pupil personnel departments, Special Education and pupil personnel staff.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
NYS Certification as a School District Administrator/Leader required.
Experience as a special education teacher, speech language teacher or pupil personnel services provider strongly preferred.
Experience with Committee on Special Education process strongly preferred.
Additional Salary Information: Per Bargaining Unit contract
