Wildwood Programs provides quality educational, residential, vocational, social, recreational and therapeutic services to more than 200 students and over 800 adults in the Capital District. Each day over 700 full and part time teachers, therapists, social workers, teachers’ aides, residence and vocational counselors, job coaches and direct support professionals give their very best to ensure that the individuals whom Wildwood serves, receive the supports they need.
Wildwood Programs is looking for a Director of our Wildwood School who would be responsible for the overall operations and accountability for Wildwood School by performing the following duties:
Leads the strategic planning process for Wildwood School;
Ensures continuity of curriculum and instruction from admissions to graduation that is in compliance with the regulations of the NYS Education Department;
Leads school staff in facilitating partnerships and ongoing communication with students’ families;
Facilitates and directs School Administration and School Leadership meetings to ensure the development and coordination of educational policies and practices;
Ensures that the programs, policies and practices are aligned to support the educational needs of the students;
Oversees the admission, placement, and discharge policies and practices, including a student study process;
Establishes and maintains relationships with colleges, community organizations, government agencies and school districts to coordinate and enhance educational services;
Monitors safety and security of students, employees and school facilities;
Works closely with Wildwood Executive Management team, Business Office and Wildwood Foundation to plan, develop, and monitor the school budget, including grants, fundraising, school business plans following the regulations of NYS Education Department;
Serves on and may lead a variety of school and agency standing and special committees;
Ensures the development, coordination, and implementation of staff development programs;
Oversees the implementation of agency administrative policies for school;
Monitors internal and external communication and public relations including providing regular presentations of the School Program Overview for potential families, school district personnel and others as needed;
Participates in legislative advocacy for individuals who have neurological impairments, learning disabilities and autism;
Prepares oral and written reports for the NYS Education Department, Wildwood Boards, Wildwood Leadership, and community partners;
Ensures the development and completion of Agreements between Wildwood and School Districts as well as Wildwood and consultants, and works with attorney as needed;
Supports the activities of the Wildwood Foundation; and
All supervisors, managers, and employees are all responsible for helping to create a workplace free of recognized hazards, and for acting safely.
Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university; minimum of five years experience with neurologically impaired, learning disabled, or individuals with autism; and minimim three years supervisory experience.
New York State certification as School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS), School District Administrator (SDA), School Building Leader (SBL), or School District Leader (SDL).
