The School Board of New Trier THSD 203 is seeking a newly created Assistant Superintendent for Special Education. New Trier is considered to be one of the most academically successful high schools in the nation.
The district is located 16 miles north of Chicago on Lake Michigan and has a nationally recognized student advisement program and award-winning fine and performing arts programs.
The Assistant Superintendent for Special Education will be responsible for oversight and development of comprehensive and innovative special education services to meet diverse student needs while ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations. Works collaboratively with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction and the Assistant Superintendent for Student Services to ensure all students have comprehensive curricular, extracurricular, and support programs to meet their needs. Master’s Degree in Special Education. Doctorate preferred
Illinois Professional Educator License with General Administrative or Principal endorsement, and Director of Special Education endorsement
Five years’ experience in Special Education leadership and/or general administration
Qualified Evaluator certification
Extensive knowledge of special education programs; best practices in the field; and federal and state laws related to special education
